abstract

a two server queueing system with single and batch service is considered in this paper. the arrival process is assumed to be poisson and the service rate follows an exponential distribution. server-i serves the customers in both single and batch service, while server-ii serves the customers in batch service only. the laplace transform of the transient and steady state behavior of the model is considered and we obtained the expressions for the expected queue length.

Analysis of a Batch Arrival Single Service Queueing System with Unreliable Server and Single Vacation

Many authors have analyzed queueing systems with server breakdowns. Kendall (1953) studied stochastic processes occurring in the theory of queues and their analysis by the method of imbedded Markov chains. Buzacott and Hanifin (1978) classified the machine failures as operation dependent failures and time dependent failures. Shanthikumar (1982) analyzed a M/G/1 queueing system with time and ope...

FINITE POPULATION SINGLE SERVER BATCH SERVICE QUEUE WITH COMPULSORY SERVER VACATION

A single server finite population queueing model with compulsory server vacation and with fixed batch service has been considered. For this model the system steady state probabilities are obtained. Some performance measures are calculated and numerical examples are also given.

Single Server Bulk Queue with Service Interruption, Two Phase Repairs and State Dependent Rates

This paper reports a study on a single server queue with bulk arrival and bulk service patterns wherein the incoming traffic depends on the state of the server which may be in operating or breakdown state. The repair of the breakdown server is performed in two phases. The operating duration of server, repair duration of both phases of repairing as well as job's inter-arrival times and service t...

Study of Impact of Negative Arrivals in Single Server Fixed Batch Service Queueing System with Multiple Vacations

Consider a single server fixed batch service queueing system under multiple vacation with a possibility of negative arrival in which the arrival rate λ follows a Poisson process, the service time follows an exponential distribution with parameter μ. Further we assume a negative arrival rate occur at the rate of ν which follows a Poisson process and the length of time the server in vacation foll...

Machine Repair Queueing System with with Non-Reliable Service Stations And Heterogeneous Service Discipline (RESEARCH NOTE)

This investigation deals with M/M/R/N machine repair problem with R non-reliable service stations which are subjected to unpredictable breakdown. 1here is provision of an additional server to reduce backlog in the case of heavy load of failed machines. 1he permanent service stations repair the failed machines at an identical rate m and switch to faster repair rate when all service stations are ...

A single server perishable inventory system with N additional options for service

This article presents a perishable (s; S) inventory system under continuous review at a service facility in which a waiting hall for customers is of nite size M. The arrival instants of customers to the service station constitutes a Poisson process. The life time of each items is assumed to be exponential. All arriving customers demand the rst "essential" service, whereas only some of them dema...
